America wants its former criminals working but it doesn’t want to hire them. In this segment, criminologist and O.R. legend Alfred Blumstein of Carnegie Mellon University’s Heinz School of Business explains his research showing when employers may safely hire ex-offenders who have paid their debt to society. He presented his findings at the INFORMS 2011 annual meeting in Charlotte.
