Thanks to Admiral Mike Mullen for taking the time to provide his illuminating insights into the critical role that Operations Research (O.R.) plays in a wide spectrum of not only military but also business applications. I especially enjoyed how he noted even applications to humanitarian logistics and operations in Haiti and how he emphasized how O.R. helps to frame important problems for enhanced decision making with its emphasis on resources, constraints, and optimization.

As someone who started her career in defense consulting in Newport, Rhode Island and afterwards received her PhD at Brown University, with a specialty in O.R., and who has been a faculty member at the Isenberg School at UMass Amherst, researching and teaching on a variety of network themes, I salute Admiral Mullen for the wisdom that he shared in this podcast. I will certainly inform my students about it.

This interview conducted by Barry List and Peter Horner was excellent!

Thank you also very much for its further dissemination!
