The MedicCast
As a follow up to last week's episode DVT, this week on the MedicCast, the podmedic features the sequelae of DVT, pulmonary embolism. For EMS providers to suspect PE, they should be able to first know if the patient has a history of DVT. Since there are no protocols for PE the prehospital setting yet, paramedics are focused on immediate transport of the patient with PE to the nearest health facility. Emergency interventions are aimed at respiratory management and establishment of an IV line. Also in the show are the latest news in EMS and links to this week's tip for reference and further review.
