School Psychology Podcast Episode 25: Discovering the autism genes

New research about the role of specific genes in autism spectrum disorders is reviewed. This line of research is promising in understanding and intervening with this devastating disorder. It appears that there is a gene that is turned off and with intervention may be able to be turned on, which allows more learning on the part of the individual with autism. This may help explain the benefits of intensive, individualized early intervention.
