Dr. Weisz, autism, positive behavior interventions and supports

Listen to the interview conducted by Dr. Gurr for his podcast "The Shrink is in". We focus on separating facts from fallacies regarding autism.

Listen to my latest podcast entitled a Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports Nightmare. You get to hear me react to a New York Times article about a school that purports to use PBIS, but in actuality uses negative, reactive and ineffective practices - the very opposite of what PBIS is all about. Listen to my letter to the editor.

I describe what PBIS really is about. It is the body of research and practice getting attention from many communities that want more positive schools, teachers that want more effective tools for improving student behavior and legislators that want schools to adhere to scientifically validated procedures. Legislation has begun to emphasize the need for positive behavior supports and evidence-based practices.
