Moonwalker Scientist

Marc Pelletier

Few people in the history of Humankind have experienced true exploration, the real sense of going where no one has gone before, to see with human eyes what no one has seen.

Senator Harrison 'Jack' Schmitt spent 3 days living on the moon with three x eight hour EVAs (extra vehicular activity), breaking all the Apollo mission records. Moreover, he is the only scientist to explore the surface of the moon, which gives him a unique perspective on the experience. He kindly shares this experience and give us his first hand account in this episode of Futures in Biotech (indeed this wasn't biotech, but as one of the greatest scientific endeavors, I bent the rules a bit).

This is a great interview. Its a little less technical than the average episode of FiB, but I am glad Marc "bent the rules" to snag this interview.

I still plan to get his book, "Return to the Moon."

Thanks Doc! I really think that the Apollo astronauts are true heros of science, and Schmitt is one of the greats!
