Autism: A magnet for misinformation

My three installments about autism are published. The podcasts focus on what we know, what we don't know and when we should know better!

I focus on empirically supported facts about the disorder, prevalence and presentation and evidence-based interventions. These include early intervention, behaviorally based interventions, special education or individualized educational approaches, parent support and a variety of strategies uniquely helpful for people with autism (e.g., picture communication systems). I also review many of the unsupported claims about the nature of autism and autism treatments. Finally, I provide guidelines about how to avoid being taken in by unsupported claims, misleading information, pseudoscience and quackery.

Podcasts and my school psychology blog can be accessed at my site weiszdoc.com. My school psychology blog has links and resources about autism and other topics of interest. My podcast is also available on itunes.
