Critical Incident Stress for EMTs and Paramedics

MedicCast EMS Podcast MedicCast EMS Podcast

When a medical provider enters a difficult situation, they are expected by the public to provide care, stabilize and improve a bad situation and help people.  When everything is over with, however, who helps the helpers?

This week's MedicCast looks at the difficult problems surrounding the handling of those critical incidents that cause medical professionals to have trouble performing their duties effectively.  Whether it is the death or injury of a child, a burn patient or other serious injury, our medical professionals need resources to deal with these problems before they cause burn out, post traumatic stress disorders, lost jobs, divorce, and more!

This week is part one of two.
