Aminoglycoside Antibiotics for Nurses on the Nursing Show

Nursing Show Podcast Nursing Show Podcast

As nurses in hospitals work to combat nosocomial infections, one of the front line medications used in that battle is the aminoglycoside Gentamycin.  Because of their ability to work and play nice with other antibiotics to create a broad spectrum medication attack on bacterial infections, aminoglycosides are on the front lines of hospital's fight against infection.

The problems faced by certain populations of patients, however, when given these drugs means that nurses and nursing students need to be up to date on precautions, contraindications, and administration guidelines when giving these drugs.  This week the Nursing Show looks at this class of antibiotics in the ongoing look at antibiotics for nurses plus we cover the usual nursing news and commentary.
